the kite runner

It hit me, while reading the Kite Runner, so politically correct of me... Tu and Usted are not at all distinctions of familiarity.  They are distinctions of class and separation.  Familiarity has very, very little, to do with it.  My family here often refers to me as Usted.  I'm about to start insisting on tu.
